Baptist Memorial Health Care operates 14 hospitals in West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. With more than 12,000 full-time equivalent employees, Baptist serves the medical needs of its communities, while also playing a significant role in area economies.
Baptist Memorial Hospital–Booneville located in Booneville, Mississippi, was founded in 1949 and became affiliated with the Baptist system in 1982. The facility has 114 licensed beds and approximately 264 full-time equivalent employees. In fiscal year 2012, the average daily census was 25, and the hospital recorded 15,044 emergency room visits, 952 surgeries, and 1,437 discharges.
An annual study conducted by the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Memphis showed the economic impact of Baptist on the surrounding local economies. The total production of goods and services created by Baptist Booneville was valued at over $28 million; total salaries, wages, and benefits valued $10 million; state and local taxes generated by the hospital was more than $850,000; and more than 275 full and part time jobs were created.

The economic impacts described in this report were derived from Baptist's total net revenues from direct operations during fiscal year 2012 (FY2012) using the IMPLAN© statistical model. In the course of normal operations, Baptist spends these revenues on a wide variety of goods and services, including medical supplies, wages and benefits, contract labor, repairs and maintenance, food services, and non-medical supplies and services. Subsequently, both Baptist employees and employees and owners of Baptist suppliers spend incomes derived via business or employment with Baptist across all spectrums of the local economy.
